Yearbooks On Sale!

This week we will be selling yearbooks at lunch. The current price for the 2011 yearbook is $100. The price will rise and eventually the book will cost $115 at the senior breakfast. Books from other years will be on sale for a very low discounted price. Please stop by this week during lunch and order your book before it is too late!

We are looking for students to upload pictures to finish filling some pages of this year's book. If anyone has pictures of Semi 2010 and/or the Italian Exchange 2010 please upload them using the information provided on the right column of this blog. Please note that pictures taken directly off of facebook or any other online website usually do not have high enough resolution and can not be included in the book.

A few announcements to start off the year:

• We Need Covers! The cover contest is still open to submissions, the new deadline is Friday September 17th
• We Need Pictures! Please upload any and all pictures of school events this includes sports, clubs, dances, lunch, anything! (If prompted to login, id:400030269, password: bhs)
  
• Join Our Staff! The yearbook staff meets every Monday after school in Mr. Barczack's room (165) If you want to be a part of the yearbook, come to a meeting!
• The yearbook is currently on sale for only $75 until Thanksgiving! This is the lowest price in years, so buy your book soon! Seniors will be recieving mailings with information about purchase. Underclassmen, talk to Mr. Barczak!

The Theme: Technology

Title: We Are the Ones

It is Burlington High School’s unique tradition to use student art for the yearbook cover. We, the yearbook staff, want to continue this wonderful tradition, but we need your help to design the perfect cover. In our world today, technology has become a major necessity. Whether it is texting, ipods or facebook, we all use it. Some of the design elements we want to use in the book are: parallel lines, 0s and 1s (011011011), and any type of technology. If you could use any of these elements in your design, we would be very thankful. We are in need of your great ideas and artistic talent. See what you can brainstorm and capture in your art to show technology at BHS. Good Luck!

The Deadline

Extended: September to September 17th

When: Wednesday, September 1, 2010 (The first day of the 2010-2011 school year)

Note: This year we need the submissions early. This means you may need to work on your design over the summer, but make sure it is submitted before September 1, 2010

The design must include: 2011 on the front cover.

It is preferred that the title also appear on the cover: We are the Ones•

A space in the front, bottom right hand corner for name stamping•

Below is a layout of the flattened book cover. • 1= 13 inches tall x 24 7/8 inches wide: overall size of design. The dark #1 area is a margin which will wrap around the cardboard cover and not be displayed. • 2= 11 x 23 3/8: the essential area of the design – front, spine, and back cover.• 3=spine 11 inches tall x 1 3/8 inches wide. All words in this area should be centered and no more than 1/2 inch tall. • 4 = area where student names will be stamped, design should be a solid color in this area.
